Job Title: Lab Technician and TA to SS

Start Time: August 2026

Report to: Head of Science


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lab Technician

  1. Be familiar with subject teaching requirements, experimental principles and techniques.

  2. Prepare the experiments based on the subject curriculum requirements and the applications from teachers for assisting teachers and students in performing good experimental lessons.

  3. Draw up the experimental equipment’s and materials’ procurement and budget plan for the whole academic year aligning with the teaching requirements of all year groups from the subject curriculum and teachers.

  4. Be responsible for the management and use of the laboratory, including but not limited to the procurement, storage, registration, repair and maintenance of equipment, instruments and drugs.

  5. Be responsible for the laboratory and teaching equipment cleaning and the work of dust-proof, insect-proof, fire-proof and anti-theft.

  6. Collaborate to establish laboratory management policies, including but not limited to the management of hazardous chemicals.

  7. Ensure safe operation of laboratory facilities and equipment, including but not limited to the automatic monitoring of the laboratory key functions, leakage detection and alarm, ventilation, maintenance and operation of fire and explosion protection facilities.

  8. Adhere to the job responsibilities, safety operation procedures, safety emergency measures and safety experiment operation.

  9. Prepare relevant documents for regular government inspections.

TA

  1. Act as Co-mentor for mentor groups and communicate with parents through the class WeCom group and email.

  2. Support with translation in parent teacher conference and meetings.


PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in science of biology and/or Physics.

  2. Safeguarding Training is desirable.

  3. Fluent in English.

  4. Minimum 2 years relevant working experience in international school.

  5. Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.

  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an even-handed, sensitive approach, an understanding and empathy with the feelings and motives of others, able to see things from the perspective of others and able to interact effectively with students, parents and colleagues.

  7. Effective and efficient administrative skills.

  8. Flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to collaborate with and support colleagues as part of team, contributing to the overall development of the school community.

  9. The willingness to confront difficult issues and have difficult conversations.

  10. Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age & ethnic background.

  11. A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.
