Job Title: Teacher of Mathematics

Start Time: August 2025


We are looking for a highly qualified, dedicated, creative, adaptable and enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics for Aug 2025 start.  The successful candidate will be someone who has the ability to lead and inspire children, as well as the willingness to support the ambition and values of the school.  


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 


KEY SUMMARY 

  1. Teach Mathematics at the level of KS3, IGCSE and A-Level 

  1. Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in Mathematics and across the wider school through sharing resources and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active participation in continuing professional development 

  1. Lead on the school’s Mathematics competitions. 

  1. Liaise closely with other staff to develop Mathematics meeting the needs and interests of students across the school 

  1. Develop the school’s program of taking Mathematics into the local community 

  1. Liaise with Mathematics staff at SPGS London to build on their tradition of excellence and develop common programs, including tours 

  1. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children 

  1. Carrying out tutor ‘s responsibility for a specific year group 

  1. Support the school’s aims and objectives for teaching and learning 

  1. Plan and prepare courses and lessons 

  1. Collaborate with colleagues at SPGS London to bring the best of their methods and expertise to SPGS International School Chengdu 

  1. Teach, according to their educational need, the students assigned to you 

  1. Set and mark work (including internal examinations) to be carried out by the students in school or elsewhere 

  1. Monitor and record student progress and achievement as per school policy 

  1. Set appropriately challenging targets for students 

  1. Ensure students requiring learning support are supported in following their Individual Education Plan and that their needs are being met 

  1. Organize assessments and examinations as required 

  1. Write reports as required 

  1. Strive to foster amongst students, a love of learning and an ongoing thirst for knowledge 

  1. Collaborate with other teachers to plan lessons together, share ideas, approaches and professional knowledge 

  1. Keep-up-to-date with Department for Education and subject specific developments and contribute curriculum knowledge to the department 

  1. Keep up-to-date with wider educational research internationally 

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 


QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Essential: Minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Mathematics or in a relevant subject area 

  • Evidence of high-level academic mathematics ability 

  • Desirable: PGCE / QTS or equivalent  

LANGUAFES 

  • Fluent in English. 

WORKING EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum two years’ Mathematics teaching experience at a UK or international school  

  • Experience in Cambridge, IGCSE, A-Level curriculum
